The Northeastern North Carolina Internet Initiative welcomes you to North Carolina
Roanoke River Partners

Welcome ...
We invite you to explore our beautiful Roanoke River Paddle Trail and Camping System. Spend the night on camping platforms placed along the Roanoke River and its creeks, tributaries and swamps.

A wild-gem in Northeastern North Carolina, the lower Roanoke River and its tributaries offer a unique wilderness experience. Our beautiful Roanoke River region hosts a myriad of native and migrating birds as well as a diverse variety of both plant and animal wildlife. This being the case, our region is the perfect destination for photographers, bird watchers, canoers/kayakers, campers & all sorts of outdoor enthusiasts.

Our scenic Roanoke River Paddle Trail is comprised of over 200 miles of interconnected creeks, rivers, and black water swamps along the Roanoke River. The northern segment of our trail includes over 6 miles of class 2 and 3 whitewater rapids while the lower Roanoke offers more flat water with lots of fingers off the main river to explore. In an effort to provide the most authentic experience possible, we have established a series of 15 riverside camping platforms which make it possible to enjoy the remote, natural settings found along the Roanoke.

In addition to a multitude of outdoor experiences, our trail passes through a number of historic North Carolina towns which offer a stroll back in time as well as a variety of local products and quaint small town experiences; many of which are reminiscent of times gone by.
